In addition to viewing the live and archived images and accessing the alarm system, remote control of user selectable devices is supported. For example, the controller can be programmed to turn on lights or sound alarms in the event of a sensor activation. In this way, when a user receives an alarm on his home computer, he can then view the images in a lighted area. The user can then call police if necessary, effectively eliminating false alarms and the associated fees.

In the event that door or window switches are installed, the control web page will indicate the status of these switches. This can be used as a manual check from a remote location to insure that the area is secured.

Other devices such as pan/tilt units can be controlled remotely allowing the user the ability to view any area.

Finally, multiple monitors can be connected to the server each with a programmable screen. These monitors can be a combination of NTSC, VGA, and DVI formats
